Range Studios

Range Studios are a creative workspace housed in the basement of Jessica Gaynelle Moss’s grandparents’ home. Named for her paternal grandmother, Rebecca Range, the studio carries forward a tradition through the activation of a space that has long been used for making, working and gathering. For many years, Rebecca operated her neighborhood hair salon from the basement of their home in the Hill District. Today, the space has been transformed into three individual studios available for rent, continuing the site’s history as a place for entrepreneurialship, community and creative practice.

Each studio is approximately 100 square feet with fresh white walls, overhead lighting and a tabletop work surface. The spaces are intentionally simple and flexible, allowing artists to bring in the tools, materials and furnishings that best suit their practice. Studios are well suited for painting, drawing, writing, jewelry and metalsmithing, among other creative practices. Studios are available to Black-identified professional artists for $100/month, with 24-hour access and Ring camera security. Leases are available for six months to one year.
